DIY Fall Wreath and Pumpkin Display

This is my favorite time of year! I love making wreaths and decided to try my hand at making a Fall one. I've always had the traditional orange and red, leafy decorations, but was inspired when I saw this picture to do something new. I love changing things up.

I love the simplicity of the white pumpkins and love the mix of glass, branches, and greens. Again, something totally different than I usually do, but really works well.

Everything you see on the wreath I bought at Hobby Lobby. Didn't take much to make and I hit a sale day so I was happy. The black bucket was originally galvanized and I spray painted it with chalk paint and used a chalk pen for the writing.

So I've got my fall wreath out front and I just put up some Halloween decor in the entry, some glitter pumpkins, skulls, etc you're seeing a lot of this year. Blending the two is a little tricky and I haven't done any fall decorations yet inside. Trying to get that done by this weekend:) Will see what I end up with and post some pics soon.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy Fall Ya'll:)

Customized Newborn Photo Album

Hi All!! It's been so long and I've missed blogging. Chasing around a 21 month old can get pretty tiring.

I wanted to share this great album I found online at Blue Sky Papers. I've had Lea's newborn pictures tucked away since we received them almost 2 years ago. I framed a few out for her room, but I just never got around to putting an album together for the remaining photos.

It took me a while to figure out and find something that I really liked. Yep, 2 whole years. I'm pretty particular I guess you can say. I wanted to have the cover embossed with her name and birthdate. I also knew I wanted to use the prints versus doing a digital book. I definitely preferred hardcopies for this project.

So here it is. Again, I found it online at Blue Sky Papers. I fell in love with all their albums. They have tons of options and ways to customize each album! I knew I wanted to display it in the house somewhere and that's why I chose the light gray. I decided to put it on the entry table which makes me happy. It's not in her room or on a bookshelf, but rather out to be enjoyed.

The intro page I put together myself. I bought the cardstock and decorative paper at Joann's. I found this beautiful poem and included her birth information on the front page. I feel this was a great way to really personalize the album and make it extra special.

{4x6 prints provide a very clean look.}

{Love the irregular paper pages.}

If you have an album you love, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week.

Funky and Fun Spring Wreath

The weather has finally taken a turn for the better around here. It's been so rainy, we are finally getting some sunshine! With Spring here now, I thought it was time to dress up our front door with a fun wreath.

I had a blast making this wreath. A bit time consuming, but I love how it turned out. I wanted something funky and whimsy.... Not an easy thing to find if you want to purchase one. So I tried my hand at it and here it is! With Lea now, my taste has changed a little bit. Rather than going my traditional route, I'm having fun adding color and making things more playful.

My first step was purchasing the burlap and the wreath frame. Bought the supplies from Joann Fabrics. I ended up buying the largest wreath frame and 2 rolls of the burlap. I watched a tutorial on youtube on how to make it.

So now what??? Going into a project like this, I typically don't have a set plan on what it will look like in the end. Can be a little stressful doing it this way, but I usually manage to pull through and figure things out along the way.

These were some fun glitter eggs I found at Target to start things off. They had a couple holes at the bottom of each egg which worked out great. I ended up using some wire to attach these to the wreath.

Here's a list of the other pieces I found!

1. Flower Pom Stems from Hobby Lobby

2. Birds from Hobby Lobby

3. Rabbit from Dollar Tree

4. Bird nest and eggs (not shown here) from Hobby Lobby

5. Glitter Bunnies from Dollar Tree

6. Hello Spring sign from Target

I cut the flower poms off the stems and used some floral wire to attach these to the wreath. You can kinda see the method to my madness below. I twisted the wire and poked a hole into the poms and used a glue gun to make sure the wire stayed in place.

Had to jazz up the blue eggs with some gold glitter and spray paint the birds nest to add some color!

Total cost ran me roughly $65.00. Such a fun project and something we'll be able to enjoy years to come!

DIY Magnet Board

Hi friends! With my dads help, we just got done making this great magnet board for Lea's playroom.

Super easy and pretty inexpensive to make. I bought a piece of aluminum sheet metal from Lowe's for $20.00 and my dad backed it with a piece of wood and framed it out. He used liquid nail glue to affix the sheet metal to the wood and also used it to glue the frame around it. No nails were used!

Here's a list of things you need to make this magnet board. Everything you can purchase from Lowe's. (magnets separate:)

1. 24x36 piece of aluminum sheet metal (double check to make sure it's magnetic)
2. 24"x48" 1/8" pc of wood (dad cut it down to 24"x36")
3. (2) mounting blocks for hanging (dad cut these from some extra wood he had)
4. Wall trim molding of your choice
5. Liquid Nail Glue
6. Paint for molding (had some extra paint)
7. Picture hangers
8. ReadyScrew D Ring Hangers
9. Miter saw to cut trim molding at a 45 degree angle

TOTAL COST: $ 45.00

Have you visited Printsagram yet?? Love their products! I bought these magnets and customized them with pictures of our family. Lea loves looking at them! I also have their 4x4 square photos which I used at her 1st birthday and ended up stringing those up in her playroom.

Here's my happy camper!!

Thanks for stopping by!! I've got some other projects in the works that I can't wait to share. I finished my Spring wreath and look forward to sharing that with you soon!!

Lea's Playroom Reveal

So excited to show ya'll the reveal of Lea's Playroom! It's been awhile in the making and it's all complete.

We took our sitting room, which wasn't getting a whole lot of use, and transformed that area into Lea's new playroom. I'm all about using space you have, for actual living space. Most of us these days need all the square footage we can get. It's easy to start accumulating stuff as we get older and children are introduced to the picture. What was neat and tidy before is a fixture of the past, well unless you live in one of those trending "tiny" houses. I love the concept, but with kids, I'm not sure how that works?

11. Like Minded FLOR tile in Pink (16qty)

And here it is!! I started by purchasing the rug, and working from there. The rug is one of my favorite pieces in the room. I love the color it brings. Very cheerful and playful. It's also super easy to manage. Spills are easily wiped up and for some reason, it's fun to vacuum... I know, I'm weird.

I originally thought of painting the focal wall a bright color, but decided against that. Since it's not a room by itself, and more open with the rest of the house, I thought it was important to maintain the room flow as much as possible with the rest of the house. I didn't want it to distract too much from the other rooms. So we opted to do some wall decals instead. Something not permanent, and it adds a whimsy, playful feel to the room. I tied in the colors of the decal to the colors in the rug, maintaining my color scheme throughout.

{I found these amazing original crayon boxes at an Estate sale}

{I wanted to keep her pictures up from her first birthday and came up with this idea. I took picture wire and used clothespins. It was a great solution to optimize the use of the brick wall and very cheap.}

{I recycled the poms I used for her birthday and put them in here.}

And that's Lea's playroom!! We love the new room. It's a great space for her and a room we all enjoy being in. Thanks for stopping by!! Have a great week!
