Oh, how I love yard work!

Hope you all had a great weekend! Happy Martin Luther King Day!

This past weekend was a pretty productive weekend. Chris and I spent both days working in the yard. Not my favorite thing to do, but it was much needed.

Before- Help me!

We opted to do-it-ourselves and put the money towards other things. It can be so easy to take the easy route and  pay someone to do the dirty work. Believe me..we were really tempted to do just that. But we soon realized, you can't hire someone to do every project you need done, or you'll eventually go broke.

So, Chris and I dug along. He did the brunt of the digging up of previous plants, stumps, rocks, etc. on Saturday. On Sunday, we finished the job by laying down compost, pete moss, and garden soil. After a hard days work and a couple garden snakes later (2 to be exact and not tiny, ewwwww), we have a clean slate now and the front is ready for some pretty shrubbery.

After- All ready for new plants!

Can't wait to finish this project up hopefully in the next couple weeks. Looking to add some Japanese junipers and who knows what else. Definitely want to add a Buddha or Pagoda possibly. It will be very Zen like.

We got ourselves a house!

I'm excited to announce that we closed on our house last night! It's OFFICIAL. We bought our first home. We couldn't be more excited. It was definitely a roller coaster of a ride, emotions up and down, but we DID IT! We get the keys today and move in this weekend. I can't wait for you all to see it. It's got so much character. I'm so ready to make it home for us! My mind just won't stop racing as far as what I want to do, what I want to paint, etc. etc.. That's what you call a little OCD. I love it though... I can't wait to make it HOME for us. It's already close to feeling like home already. Our cats will love it too!!

So movers come on Monday and I'll be working like an animal getting everything unpacked. Obed our painter is coming by this evening to give us a quote. There are a few rooms we definitely want to paint. Blue and Rust aren't our colors. Will defintiely will take some before and afters for ya'll.

Have a great weekend and stay cool!! This Texas heat it something else. Chris and I had to pick the hottest summer to move back to Dallas. GEEEZZZ.

Dining Chair Upholstery Project

My husband and I are gearing up to move into our first place. We're extremely excited to get into our new home. With that, comes lots of fun projects. Just several weeks ago, I bought a table and chairs set from a sweet couple on Craigslist. The set was in beautiful condition and has some really interesting woodwork detailing. The only thing that I needed to fix were the chair cushions. They weren't doing the chair any justice. They seemed confused. Take a look..

{Dining Chair Before}
My dad and I recovered the chairs today with a beautiful fabric I picked up from Cutting Corners off Midway and Spring Valley. For $19/yard and 2 yards, this was my end result. Wow..what a difference a little fabric makes. They now look completed. Really takes on a French vibe that I'm really digging. What are your thoughts??

{Dining Chairs After}

I'm pretty excited about these chairs. It took all of 2 hours to complete with the help of my dad. It definitely is a two person job. It helps.

Here is a sneak peak up an upcoming project with a couple living room chairs my parents graciously gave to Chris and I. They've been in the family since 1983. These are timeless chairs, just need a little TLC. These will have to be professionally upholstered. Hopefully won't break the bank.
